Question
My Partner joined M & S 4 months ago and in that time has only been home 3 times - in the last 3 months he has not even stayed a night !! They make him work 7 days a week, sometimes hours from 5.00am till midnight then back up a 5.00am again. He is living out of a suitcase in Watford and gets mini bused around the south to various Stores. They will not tell him when he can begin a normal working life again. I work full time and we also have a 2 year old. They don't seem to care that he has a family and do everything they can to stop him coming home. He has looked for other work but finds it hard as they never let him have a minute to himself ! Please can anyone let me know if they have had similar things with M & S as i don't believe they are the upstanding company everyone thinks they are.
Answer
I worked in M&S for a short period - 5 days, (vacation work)after which I left because the management gave me 'dirty looks' for no reason and perceived new starters as a nuisance, as we asked questions on products we did not know. The retail industry (management) is composed of drop-outs, losers and those who have no skills, and these people don't generally know how to treat people - kind of like cave-men. These people end up in retail. They don't have regard for others, obsessed with 'low prices' and 'customer service', sitting on the till and other monotonous and brainless tasks. Permalink:
